Hendersonville's seasonal mulch giveaway program is set to begin the last weekend of September 2017.

Beginning Thursday, September 28, 2017, the city will have a person on site to operate the backhoe and load the material.

Mulch will be given away on Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon.

According to a press release, the city will continue to give away mulch until November 4.

The location is the old wastewater treatment plant at 80 Balfour Road.

In addition to the mulch, the city will also offer composted leaves. The leaves were run through a chipper several times, and composted for a year.

The city says this compost should be an excellent addition to vegetable and flower gardens.
