An Asheville day-shelter is expanding its services for homeless people.
Homeward bound's AHOPE day center is now offering showers, locker storage and other basic services in its newly renovated basement.
Officials say they now have 330 lockers and updated bathrooms with more stalls and showers that will provide some much-needed breathing room.
"The building was designed to maybe see 5 people in a day. So, we were just bursting at the seams for many many years. Just to have this renovation has meant that we can really better serve the population that we are seeing here," said service director Kate Caton.
The number of people allowed inside the shelter is still being limited due to the pandemic.
The shelter is open Monday-Friday, 8 am-12 pm.
