Asheville City Schools Superintendent Patterson to resign

Superintendent of Asheville City Schools Denise Patterson will resign this fall.

In her letter of resignation shared with News 13, Patterson cites medical reasons as the cause. She says in the letter that she "will work with the Board of Education on developing a transition plan."

Patterson was selected after more than 50 people applied for the job. He first day was July 1, 2017.

Her last day will be no later than Nov. 15, 2019.
