Authorities say they need the public's help in finding a man wanted on several charges.
A press release from the Asheville Police Department (APD) states that on Aug. 8 at approximately 11 p.m., officers responded to a residence in South Asheville regarding vandalism to a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers discovered a "repeated domestic violence offender" had damaged a vehicle parked outside a home and fled the scene after being seen by the victim.
Monday's release states APD has charged Reginald Lee Redfern, 47, of Asheville, with breaking/entering a motor vehicle and injury to personal property as a result of the Aug. 8 incident. Additionally, Redfern has been charged with assault on a female for an incident that occurred on July 30, 2020.
APD is asking for public assistance in locating Redfern in order to take him into custody. Redfern is described by officials as an African-American male, 5' 10", approximately 220 pounds and has a tattoo on his right forearm of a cross.
Officials encourage survivors of domestic or sexual violence to visit the Family Justice Center (FJC) at 35 Woodfin Street in downtown Asheville. For more information on FJC, click here.
