One local teacher is using a science lesson to help students discover the importance of teamwork.

Students in Mrs. Wellberry's class at Avery's Creek Elementary used group work and teamwork to learn how to politely share their opinions.

The children were given 20 minutes to write down and discuss different types of clouds. Then, as a team, they had to reach an agreement on which type of cloud is their favorite.

Students said the assignment wasn't always easy but understood the importance of learning to work together.

"It's really easy because all you have to do is be nice, and if you be mean, then they will not want to work in a team with everyone, because they don't want to be treated that way," Neicy, a second-grader, said.

Wellberry has been teaching children for 34 years, and seven of those years were spent overseas. She said it was a wonderful experience, but she's glad to be back in the classroom at Avery's Creek.
