BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — One event in the mountains this weekend aimed to show support for law enforcement.

A 'Back the Blue' rally started off in Swannanoa around 10 a.m. on Aug. 1. Organizers said the purpose of the event wasn't to be political, but to show support for those in law enforcement, especially those in the Asheville Police Department, Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, and the State Highway Patrol.

Demonstrators drove through downtown Asheville to "loudly and boldly" show their support on Saturday.

"I'm seeing that our law enforcement agencies are being demoralized," organizer Ed Brown said. "We can talk about defunding and all of this kind of stuff, but is it defunding or is it training and other kinds of things we can do for our local law enforcement?"
