The plan to build a Pratt & Whitney aircraft engine plant in Asheville has cleared another hurdle.
The Buncombe County Board of Adjustment on Wednesday approved a conditional use permit for the proposal, which has been named Project Ranger.
The facility is already under construction on property being developed as Biltmore Park West near Interstate 26, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the French Broad River.
Pratt & Whitney is expected to create about 800 jobs and bring $650 million in investments.
Buncombe County has approved $27 million in incentives for the company.
