If you need help in western North Carolina with food you can reach out to MANNA's Food Helpline at 800-820-1109.

Here's what Hunger looks like in North Carolina. One in six residents is food insecure and one in four kids is facing hunger.

Seventy-percent of North Carolinians receiving federal food support are children and adults living with children. When MANNA's Helpline launched in 2014 staff and volunteers fielded 42 calls in the first month. Now the Helpline fields over 650 calls every month in western NC. That adds up to 7,000-plus calls a year.

The summer months can be the toughest for finding food resources and assistance for families.

The YMCA in Buncombe County is teaming up with Asheville City Schools and Buncombe County Schools to provide healthy meals to students over the summer.

The YMCA will provide a full, healthy meal for kids ages 18 and under, no questions asked. Those meals happen every Saturday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Ferguson Family YMCA. Meals are also provided to all ages at the Corpening Memorial YMCA in Marion. To see a list of locations, dates, and times, see the calendar below. The YMCA of Western North Carolina is also creating Healthy Living Mobile Markets, where tables are set up outside of one of our trucks to provide fresh produce, and often other healthy food items, for all ages, also no questions asked. Here's a list of locations and times.
