The heavy rain that fell Tuesday night into Wednesday in Brevard caused more than the usual problems.
About 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, an Ingles customer told an employee there seemed to be water coming from the ceiling. Seven roughly cut 10 inch by 20 inch holes were found in the store's roof about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Brevard police said in a news release. The release said the holes "appeared to be intended to create a way for the rain to damage the interior of the store."
Ingles could not open for business Wednesday because of the damage, which seems to be significant because the 4-5 inches of rain reported in the area. An Ingles manager said part of the roof collapsed.
Brevard police said there was a person of interest was in Ingles on Tuesday night. Officers would like to interview the man, who has a distinct tattoo on his right calf, to find out what he knows. Anyone who has any information is asked to call 828-883-2212.
