There's a tasty way to help local students this week in Henderson County.

Mikes’s on Main is one of more than 30 restaurants across the county participating in the fifth annual Food for Thought, dine out for education event.

Participating restaurants will donate anywhere from 10 to 25% of their sales to the Henderson County Education Foundation.

"We are supporting STEM projects in our community, literacy projects, things that are supporting our district above and beyond the things that are already doing," Henderson County Education Foundation's Summer Stipe said.

Stipe said the foundation hopes to raise more than the $12,000 the event raise last year.

The community is invited to a wrap up party at Bold Rock Mills River on Friday, Jan. 24. Live music will be provided by Jesse Barry and the Jam, playing from 6-9 p.m.
