Rainfall caused major flooding out on the roads across the mountains on Friday.
In Transylvania County, Cascade Lake Road in Brevard and Merrill Lane in Pisgah Forest were both closed due to high waters.
There are at least three other roadways in Transylvania County that are closed due to high waters--and with the rain continuing to fall, there could be more closures to come.
We spoke with Transylvania County dispatchers who said they have gotten calls from drivers who attempted to pass flooded roadways.
Driving in floodwater is extremely dangerous. According to the National Weather Service, it only takes six inches of moving water to sweep a person off their feet, and 18-24 inches of water to sweep away a car.
As the saying goes: "Turn around, don't drown."
