Funeral services were held Friday for a fire chief from the mountains who was killed in a crash on Interstate 40 near Statesville last weekend.
A visitation was held Thursday night for Reynolds Fire Chief Richard Sales.
Sales was killed Sunday while driving to Wilmington to pick up an award.
The funeral was held Friday, April 13, at 10 a.m. at Biltmore Church in Arden. Following the service on Friday, a procession takes Chief Sales to the cemetery at Gashes Creek Baptist Church, at 308 Gashes Creek Rd in Asheville.
The procession route is as follows:
Exit church and travel Clayton Road to NC 191 (Brevard Road).
Follow to the Blue Ridge Parkway and head north. Take the exit onto US 74 (Charlotte Hwy).
The procession will travel east to Charles A Lytle Lane (the road that turns beside Reynolds FD), where the procession will pause and allow Engine 9 to escort Chief Sales through the bays of Reynolds FD.
The procession will pick back up and will then go up Rocket Drive and then back to US 74 (Charlotte Highway).
It will travel west to the I-40 East on-ramp, also known as Gashes Creek Rd.
