Here is an excuse to indulge a little - it's National S'mores Day!

A local Girl Scouts chapter was out at the Asheville Service Center on Friday, making s'mores over real campfires.

The free event also had activities, games and chances to earn badges.

Girl Scouts are credited for creating the tasty treat.

"Because with Girl Scouts, we actually came up with the idea of the s'mores, and we're actually kind of the ones that popularized it," Girl Scout Jesseca Ballard said.

The event runs until 7 p.m. Friday.
