Mission Hospital is looking for dogs and volunteers for its pet therapy program at the Asheville campus. The dogs visit patients and workers to help them deal with how stressful the hospital can be.
Officials said there are 35 pet therapy visits a week at Mission Hospital.
One man who was bitten by a rattlesnake while hiking said it meant the world to see a therapy dog.
"It was a great feeling," he said. "My dog had stayed with me the whole time, so seeing the pet therapy dog really just warmed my heart."
Officials hope to expand the program to other campuses.
