An I-26 exit has reopened in Henderson County after the DOT discovered a sinkhole at westbound Exit 54.
That's the Highway 25 Connector Exit near East Flat Rock.
Department of Transportation crews were investigating a pothole Wednesday when the pavement collapsed, DOT officials said.
The hole was about 15 feet deep under part of the road.
The DOT's David Uchiyama said the collapse left a sinkhole on the Exit 54 ramp from I-26 westbound to U.S. 25 headed toward Greenville, S.C.
Officials immediately closed the road and established a detour for drivers.
DOT officials believe the problem is related to the drainage system for the interstate.
