Investigation leads to loaded firearm and drugs seized, two arrests

A report of a stolen car lead to the arrest of two people, Asheville police say.

On Wednesday, the department reported officers had received a report on Jan. 12 that a stolen vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Clarion Inn on Airport Road.

During an investigation, APD officers located Kasey Alexander Sullivan, 25, of Asheville, who was known to have open warrants for assault with a deadly weapon and probation violations. Sullivan was taken into custody.

MAN CHARGED WITH 1ST-DEGREE MURDER IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY SHOOTING DEATH

During the course of the investigation, detectives located and seized a loaded firearm and drugs:

  • .357 revolver
  • 57.08g of Methamphetamine
  • 4.02g of suspected Fentanyl
  • 28 pills of MDMA (Ecstasy)
  • 66 Xanax pills
  • Multiple digital scales and other drug paraphernalia

In addition to the open warrants, Sullivan was charged with the following offenses and is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility on no bond:

  • Possession of a stolen motor vehicle
  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine
  • 3 counts of possession with intent to sell/distribute Methamphetamine (schedule II)
  • 2 counts of possession with intent to sell/distribute MDMA (schedule I)
  • Possession with intent to sell/distribute Xanax (schedule IV)
  • Maintain a dwelling for controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

When officers located Sullivan, officials say he was in the company of Jaydrian Montana Ledbetter. Ledbetter was arrested for an open warrant for felony probation violation, as well as charged with the following offenses:

  • Trafficking in Opium/Heroin
  • Possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl (schedule II)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Ledbetter is currently being held at the Buncombe County Detention Center on an $80,000 secured bond.
