A man has been sentenced after vandalizing an Asheville artist's property.

Raphael Morales damaged a Jonas Gerard display at the Asheville Airport in early 2019.

Morales was sentenced to five years probation. He was also ordered to pay more than $29,000 in restitution.

Morales was also charged with vandalizing one of Gerard's studios in the River Arts District.

News 13 reported in 2015 that Gerard was charged with sexual battery. In a statement released Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, Gerard said that charge was dropped.
