Authorities said a plane crashed Wednesday evening near the Transylvania County Airport.
The small plane went down about 6 p.m. near the railroad tracks about 500 yards from the runway. It is unknown if the crashed occurred after takeoff or while attempting to land.
Little River Fire Department assistant chief Patrick Bailey said the pilot, who has not been identified suffered minor injuries. He was shaken up but did not want to go to the hospital. No passengers were aboard the plane.
The NTSB has been contacted and the State Highway Patrol will be securing the scene until NTSB arrives.
