Polk County man charged in fatal I-40 crash

A Polk County man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and other serious charges following a fatal crash on Interstate-40 last week.

Arrest warrants filed Tuesday in Buncombe County show William B. Snyder, 27, of Tryon also was charged with felony death by vehicle, felony serious injury by vehicle and driving while impaired.

Police said a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by William Barnett Snyder Jr. was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of Interstate-40 on Monday, October 2, 2017, when it collided with a Ford Focus carrying Tyrin Malik Miller-Fowler of Asheville and his passenger, Madison Ainsley Carswell of Nebo.

Madison Carswell died at the scene. Tyrin Miller-Fowler suffered multiple broken bones in the crash and required emergency surgery.

Snyder remains at Mission Hospital. His next court date is listed as October 31, 2017.
