It's ski season at Cataloochee Ski Resort, where attendance numbers are up this year, despite the roller-coaster weather patterns over the last couple months.

Cataloochee has a 25-foot deep base, and staff said the resort is on track for possibly the highest attendance in the last four years.

The resort got 25 inches of snow during the December storm and is making more every day.

"I've been with the company 20 seasons, and I think we're on track to have a great year, based on what I see so far this year from the numbers," Cataloochee president Chris Bates said.

The area gets typically 150,000 skiers a year.
