Traffic alert: Westbound lanes of Asheville Highway back open after 'major' crash

Transylvania County authorities responded to a “major accident” on Asheville Highway Friday morning.

Just after 7 a.m. the Transylvania County Rescue Squad was dispatched to a crash with entrapment on Asheville Highway near Hudlin Gap Road.

Two people were entrapped in two separate vehicles. Officials on scene told News 13 crews a total of four people were in the vehicles involved.

The rescue squad stabilized the vehicles and successfully extricated the people. Both were transported to area hospitals.

At this time, we have no information about who was involved or their conditions at this time.

The westbound lanes of Asheville Highway were closed for around two hours, but have reopened.

North Transylvania Fire Rescue, Brevard Fire Dept, Mills River Fire Rescue and Transylvania County EMS all assisted on scene.
