A clothing company in Old Fort has experienced unanticipated engagement from all over the United States after beginning production of face shields and masks for first responders and medical workers.

Demand at Kitsbow has totaled more than 100,000 units in the first week.

The company’s now teaming up with Asheville’s Industry Nine. In less than two days working together, the companies found a solution to make 10,000 shields per day.

COMPANIES IN THE MOUNTAINS PRODUCE FACE MASKS TO HELP EASE COVID-19 CONCERNS

The effort is something Industry Nine owner Clint Spiegel said the company is honored to be a part of.

"Well, I mean, it feels great. I think our biggest fear is we had all this manufacturing potential and we wouldn’t be able to do anything to help," Spiegel said. "Because of reaching out into the community, we have been able to."

Spiegel said they plan to produce about a million shields in the next month. However, they need a bigger facility space to make it all happen.

If you can help, Spiegel said to reach out to him at clint@industrynine.net.
