Kids and parents are flocking to the Western North Carolina Nature Center to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors.
Director Chris Gentile said the center had a record number of guests in October. He said COVID-19 precautions are in place -- including masks, social distancing and hand sanitizer.
Gentile said the center is also working with schools to make sure students can visit the nature center virtually.
"Some of the local school districts are using us as a place of learning where they can remote in and do programs with us," Gentile said. "So, now more than ever, we're vital to the education of our local communities."
Gentile said the center has been a much-needed way for people to get out during the pandemic and connect with nature.
