Mark Moroz, who built one of WNC’s most successful high school football programs at Christ School, has resigned to take a job in Virginia.

Moroz, who was 63-17 in seven seasons with the Greenies and led the program to three state title-game appearances, is leaving to become head coach at Episcopal High in Alexandria, Va.

Since taking over in 2011, Moroz led the program to at least seven wins every season, and won 10 or more games three times, including twice in the past three seasons.

The Greenies were 8-2 last season and have such returning talent as quarterback Navy Shuler, son of former NFL quarterback Heath Shuler, and Sidney Gibbs, who rushed for more than 2,000 yards last season.

Christ School is expected to promote assistant coach Tommy Langford to replace Moroz.
