Beyond the Scoreboard: Tourists win streak ends at three

The Asheville Tourists scored two runs in the ninth inning and three more in the 10th on Sunday but still came out on the short end of a 11-7 loss to Greensboro at McCormick Field.

The Grasshoppers (13-9) exploded for seven runs in the top of the 10th to take the victory.

Greensboro banged out eight doubles among their 16 hits.

Bret Boswell and Steven Linkous had three hits each for Asheville (7-15), which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.

The Tourists finished a scheduled seven-game homestand with a 3-2 record and three rainouts.

Asheville is on the road for seven games before returning to McCormick Field May 9, again vs. Greensboro.
