The Asheville Tourists won their first game of the season in dramatic fashion.
The Tourists snapped a four-game losing streak by scoring one run in the ninth inning and two in the 10th to hold off Kannapolis 7-6.
Ramon Marcelino had four hits – including three doubles – and four RBIs, while Chad Spanberger added three hits and a trio of RBIs for the Asheville offense.
Marcelino had a two-run double in the 10th after extra innings began with the new minor-league rule placing a runner on second with no outs.
Spanberger, who hit a home run in the sixth, also drove in a run in the seventh and another in the ninth inning.
Kannapolis (3-2) scored a run in the 10th and had the bases loaded in the 10th before Asheville reliever Lucas Gilbreath got the final out on a ground ball.
After games in Kannapolis on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Tourists (1-4) get back to McCormick Field on Thursday for the home opener. It is the first Thirsty Thursday of the season.
