Delmarva (3-0) hammered Asheville, pitching for 18 hits in an 18-3 win, the third straight win against Asheville.
Seven of the Shorebirds’ nine offensive starters scored at least two runs.
First baseman Seamus Curran had a home run among his three hits and finished with 6 RBIs. Outfielder Will Robertson added four hits and three RBIs.
Tourists starter Erick Julio (0-1) took the loss, giving up seven hits and seven runs (six earned) in four innings. Lucas Gilbreath took a beating in his one inning of work, allowing seven runs on six hits.
Ryan Vilade had three hits and an RBI for Asheville. The Tourists’ offense reached double digits in strikeouts for a third straight game (11) and have 37 whiffs in 27 innings.
After wrapping up the Delmarva series on Sunday, the Tourists travel to Kannapolis for a three-game set.
The home opener is Thursday vs. Columbia (S.C.), the first Thirsty Thursday at McCormick Field.
