Asheville City Soccer has canceled its 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement released by the club on Monday, March 23, 2020, the club said in order to act in the best interest of everyone involved at the club, including players, staff, supporters and sponsors alike, they would withdraw from the 2020 season.

“There is nothing that we love more than maxing out Memorial Stadium with all of you. That vibrant sense of community in the form of blue smoke and drums is a reflection of the best that our city has to offer, and we will miss it. Our community is strong, and together, we can overcome anything – even a global pandemic,” the statement said.

The club will be donating $10 to MANNA FoodBank for each season ticket holder willing to maintain their season tickets for the 2021 season.

“As painful as this decision has been, we feel strongly that this is the right decision,” the statement said. “Our preparation for 2021 begins now. We will return stronger than ever.”
