WLOS - Christ School will kick off the 2019 football season with their third head coach in the last three years. The Greenies have thrived despite the turnover, making it all the way to the NCISAA Division I state championship game last season. Once the season concluded, head coach Tommy Langford left to take an assistant position at UNC Charlotte.

His replacement, while new to the title, is a familiar face. Nick Luhm, the Greenies defensive coordinator for the 2017 and 2018 seasons was promoted to the top position. "As an assistant or a coordinator, even there are a lot of things that are very specific to the game," Luhm explained before a Christ School practice on Monday. "There's obviously getting ready for schemes and personnel; As a head coach, there are a lot of other things: getting camp plans ready, getting organization , things that aren't necessarily on the football field itself, but are vital to the mission of having a winning season."

Luhm inherits two of the top players in the state in quarterback Navy Shuler, a recent App State commit, and cornerback Aydan White who has verbally committed to NC State. The line will be anchored by Will Buchanan, who announced over the weekend he plans to play for Liberty at the next level.

Christ School gets a later start to the season than most teams as the Greenies don't start their slate until August 30th against University Christian.
