Bakersville - One of the most accomplished prep quarterbacks in mountain history is staying in the area to play college football. Mitchell High School's record setting quarterback Noah Pitman signed with Mars Hill Monday.
In his senior season Pitman broke the 16 hundred yard mark running and throwing. He scored 47 touchdowns as well and led one of the state's highest scoring offenses. Pitman will be moved to slot receiver at Mars Hill.
Pitman is grateful to get the opportunity to play at the next level because he didn't get a lot of collegiate looks.
"it was tough because you know there's only so many people at our school and there's other schools - with a large amount of people they have to choose from. But here it's kind of hard to get looked at since -- it's so small."
Pitman is the third Mountaineer from the 2020 class to play college football.
