An accelerated vision matched with a powerful shot, sharp skills and a strong, consistent, presence made Asheville City Soccer star Tom Deeley’s inaugural season with the team something to write home about. Now, the sometimes attacking midfielder, sometimes winger, has his sights set on the 2018 season.

Born in England, the 22-year-old standout has been playing soccer since he could walk.

The 2017 graduate of Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina, where he was a three time All-American, Regional Player of the Year (2017) and Conference Player of the Year (2017).

For Asheville City, Deeley was the 2017 leader in assists - part of the “Blues Brothers,” as they’re called, with leading goal score for the year, Elma N’For.

“I love many things about this team, including the guys that started it, to the fans, to the coaching staff and my teammates,” says Deeley.

When not on the field for Asheville City, you can find Deeley utilizing his tremendous talent with some of the areas youngest and brightest players. Deeley is the Director of Coaching for the Asheville Shield FC. There, Deeley preaches hard work and dedication, “A tip for kids wanting to play is that there should always be a football with you at all times, two sessions a week with your coach isn't enough.”

You can find Deeley on the field, along with the rest of the stars from Asheville City, for the season opener against the Myrtle Beach Mutiny on May 4, 2018, at Memorial Stadium in Asheville.

To get the ball rolling for the 2018 season, the team is hosting a Season Launch Party on April 19, from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., at Hi-Wire Brewing in Asheville. Fans are encouraged to come out and meet the players, staff and fellow Blues enthusiasts.
