Authorities try to talk suspect out of Fletcher home

According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, an hours long overnight standoff in Fletcher ended with one man being taken into custody.

Deputies say they were trying to serve a warrant for Steven Tucker's arrest. They arrived at a home on Terry's Gap Road Thursday night. Investigators say Tucker refused to surrender. The United States Marshalls Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force was called in to assist with negotiations. According to deputies, one of Tucker's disabled family members was safely removed from the home. Several hours later, Tucker was apprehended. Deputies say he tried to escape from the house.

Tucker is being held at the Henderson County Detention Facility without bond. Deputies say Tucker was wanted for Parole Violations, (Habitual Felon) Assault by Pointing a Gun, and Communicating Threats, he was served with the outstanding warrants. Additional charges are forthcoming.
