UPDATE: No reported injuries in Asheville condo fire

Crews responded to reports of a fire at 19 Lees Creek Road in Asheville around 1:33 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020.

Chief David Martin with the West Buncombe County Fire Department told News 13 a fire broke out in the 2nd floor bedroom in one of the middle condominiums there. Chief Martin said a firewall held the fire in place and stopped the fire from spreading more.

Martin said there were no one was hurt from the fire, but two cats did die. Crews had to cut a few holes in the roof to ventilate the smoke.

Chief Martin advised everyone to make sure they have a reliable smoke detector.
