A Mars Hill University professor and her students aren't letting the COVID-19 pandemic stop them from having a little fun for a good cause.
Dr. Susan Stigall and her education students did a variation on a polar plunge to raise money for Special Olympics of Madison County. Instead of everyone jumping into the French Broad River like most years, they held the Plunge In Place for the Mighty Madisons in the fountain in the Sunken Garden on campus.
It’s part of the Special Olympics North Carolina’s Plunge Week fundraisers.
"As a team, there's been over $3,000 raised. But the goal is $5,000. So, it would be fantastic if we could get them to that goal of $5,000," Stigall said.
