Local families struggling because of the COVID-19 pandemic are getting a boost from local farmers.

On Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church, workers and volunteers with Hearts with Hands helped with the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. It's the same program for which former President Donald Trump visited Mills River last year.

The program has been expanded because of the pandemic.

"It's a great box. It's got a gallon of milk in it, it's always got a yogurt, something of that nature, fresh vegetables, fruit in it, meats and dairy. And all of that's inside that box," Hearts With Hands president Greg Lentz said.
