Suspect named in South French Broad Avenue shooting

Asheville police have identified a suspect in last week's shooting on South French Broad Avenue and officers are asking for help finding him.

Christopher Terry Tandy has open warrants for attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill/inflict serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Police said Tandy is considered armed and dangerous. He is 5 feet, nine inches tall and weighs about 238 pounds. He has brown eyes and black medium length dreadlocks.

The shooting happened about 7:25 p.m. Feb. 17 in the parking lot of an apartment complex along South French Broad Avenue.

Police said the victim, a 29-year-old male, was in his vehicle at the time of the shooting. He was taken to Mission Hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition.
